USAT Race Director Certification

Sitting here looking back over the weekend the excitement is hard to contain. The three of us: Andy, Bob and I, left Thursday morning headed for San Antonio, TX. Not sure if we were even going to get out of Grand Rapids due to the recent snow storms, we were up early and at the airport by 5:30 am.  We did make it there and the trip was well worth it. We attended two full-day classes to become USAT Certified Race Directors. They not only covered the logistics of how to put on a fun, safe, successful event they also covered in detail the USAT rules, reviewed several case studies and also provided a great opportunity to network with other directors and coaches from across the country. Oh yes, and let’s not forget the seven-page exam to be sure we were actually paying attention in class. Both of our instructors have been involved with triathlon events for several years and there was no question it seemed they could not answer. To know we as directors have a group like the USAT to support us, is very reassuring and gives us great peace of mind. Now on to put into practice all that we learned to make the Grand Rapids Triathlon the best event possible!  – Ann
