Packet Pickup & Expo

Saturday, June 7th  Noon to 5PM
at Amway World Headquarters (entrance off Fulton with all the International flags)

* Please note: you will only be allowed to pickup your packet during your designated times – see below. Relay teams must check-in together and all members of the team must pick up their own packets. No exceptions will be made.*

*** If you arrive outside your designated time, there will be a delay in picking up your packet ***

Noon to 2pm – ½ Iron
1:30 to 3pm – Olympic
2:30 to 4pm – Sprint
4pm to 5pm – Anyone



No one but YOU can pick up your packet. You must show a valid picture ID and USAT card (if you are an annual member). There will be NO exceptions to this rule. As a sanctioned USAT race, we CANNOT allow an exception to this rule.

All participants must have a signed USAT Waiver to get their race packet. You may print one off here to bring to packet pick up or there will be copies available onsite. USATWaiver

We will take new registrations at packet pickup, however there is NO RACE DAY registration or packet pickup.

Out of Town Participants

Need your bike shipped?


If you need to have your bike shipped to the Grand Rapids area for race day, Raceday Transport has partnered with the USAT to provide shipping of your bike.  Contact them for further information.

Out of town participants can have their bike shipped the following bike shops, which are Grand Rapids Triathlon sponsors. Just give them a call to reserve your spot before shipping your equipment!

Race Day Outline

Sunday June 8, 2014

Road Closure at 4:00 am for Transition

Transition Area Opens – 5:15 - 6:45 am

Pre-race Swim – 6:00 – 6:30 am

1/2 Iron Transition Closes – 6:45 am

Course Meeting – 6:45 am

Sprint Transition Closes – 7:30 am

Olympic Transition Closes – 8:00 am

Swim Waves – Each swim wave will receive a different cap color. Waves will be based on distance, sex and age. Swim wave start times will be posted at packet pickup.

Remember your age is race age (as of 12/31/2014) not your age today!

Race Start Times:
Half Distance – 7:00 am
Sprint – 7:45 am
Olympic – 8:15 am

PLEASE NOTE: Aquabikes will start in the same wave as the triathlon of that distance.

Half Distance Cutoff Times:
Swim – 9:15 am
Bike – 12:15 pm
Run – 3:15 pm

Road Opens at 6:00 pm

*Please note, by registering for this event you agree to adhere to the cutoff times. Due to roads being re-opened all athletes must be removed from the course at 3:15pm. By choosing to participate in this event, you agree to be removed the course at the designated times if necessary.

Shuttles will be running all day – it is recommended you have someone drop you off at the athletic drop off area (see map above), then have them park and take a trolley to the race site.


We are excited to announce:
The GR Tri has been chosen by the USAT as the only Triathlon in Michigan to screen for young Olympiads.

What does that mean?
If you are between the ages of 15 – 19 (age as of December 31st of the current year) and participate in our Sprint event, you could be chosen to be groomed for the next USA Olympic Team!

What do you do next?
Register for the Sprint event, by clicking the Register Button on the homepage. Ages 15-19 who register will automatically be included in the reporting for Talent ID.
