All clinics listed below are free. You do not need to be registered for the Grand Rapids Triathlon or be a member of the YMCA. They will be held at the downtown YMCA – David D. Hunting Center (475 Lake MI Drive) in the front classroom area. All clinics are classroom style.

Open to all levels, but geared toward athletes who would like to learn how to train more efficiently and productively. Topics such as how to train with heart rate zones, proper taper for your event, improving your metabolic efficiency, strength training and much more. This is a must attend for any triathlete with a goal to improve their performance this year.
Nutrition for Tri

Learn a nutrition strategy that will reduce your risk of bonking or GI distress during your event. Appropriate for all levels but key to success for longer distance triathletes. This strategy will not only improve performance but also general health.

West Michigan Bike & Fitness will host this bike clinic to help you get ready for race day. Get information on how to prepare your bike for race day, basic bike maintenance, and how to change a flat tire. A great opportunity to get questions answered about the bike portion of the race.

Triathlete training is hard on your body and triathletes are often driven to push themselves to the limit. This increases the risk of overuse injury unless you take time to bring your body back into balance. Athlete Yoga is committed to helping athletes maintain a balanced body. Join us after the Race Day Clinic for a quick 30 minute “Athlete Recovery Yoga” class designed to help give your body the re-set it needs to help you perform better and reduce the risk of overuse and acute injury.

ON COURSE PRACTICE SWIM, BIKE & RUN
Practice Swim: June 3, 2018 8:00am – 9:00am*
We will be holding a practice swim at the boat launch located on the corner of Thornapple River Dr. and Buttrick. The Sprint course will be monitored for this practice swim. For longer distances, we ask you swim the Sprint course multiple times but must be out of the water no later than 9:00am. A separate wave for newbies with pre-coaching session will be available as well starting at 8am, led by certified coaches.
Due to increased insurance rates and a river access fee the Grand Rapids Triathlon is now being charged, there will be a $10 fee for those wanting to participate in this event. You may pay this fee the day of the event or pre-pay by purchasing an On Course Swim pass available on our store site.
All athletes must sign a waiver in order to participate. To download the waiver in advance click here (2018 waiver coming soon).
Practice Ride: June 3, 2018 9:00am – 10:30am*
We will be holding a practice bike ride at Ada Park. The Sprint and Olympic course will be supported by WM Bike and Fitness for this practice ride. For longer distances, we ask you ride the Sprint or Olympic course multiple times but be off course no later than 11:00am.
Practice Run: June 3, 2018
Striders will also be leading a practice run along the course. Skechers will be on site to demo shoes.
*You will be required to sign waivers for both of these practices. Please print and fill out the waiver in advance to save time during the practice swim/bike/run
